Fishing Five Lakes -

Fishing for the Big Ones

High in the Andes Mountains away from civilization (nearest town is 40 miles away) is the Five Lakes District, an area surrounded by five natural lakes and two rivers including the Rio Pico. The size of the lakes varies from two miles long to the shortest one mile with the depths reaching 10 to 20 feet deep.

Location

The Five Lakes District is located in the Province of Chubut and approximately 400 km south of the town of El Bolson and a two hour drive from the Alerces National Park. High in the Andes Mountains and surrounded by trees called Lengas, these 5 lakes and two rivers can make your day. From Bariloche Airport the half day drive through the beautiful Andes on asphalt highway goes by smoothly with a couple of stops for refreshments along the way.

The Fish

The lakes have large brook, rainbow and brown trout. The smallest lake (Lake Number Three) is about 20 feet deep and holds the nicest brown trout with an average of average fish from 5 to 8 lbs. They can be taken with nymphs, dries or streamers. For the avid angler the chance for a huge trophy fish of 20 and 30 lb. and bigger, we have a special place for you

The rivers connecting to these lakes have excellent fishing for the beginner. They are shallow and have trout ranging in size from 12 to 18 inches.
